“Neurons that fire together, wire together.”

Donal Hebb, Neuropsychologist

Neurotherapy for Emotional Trauma

Hebb’s axiom reminds us that every experience, thought, feeling, and physical sensation triggers thousands of neurons, which form a neural network. When you repeat an experience over and over, the brain learns to trigger the same neurons each time.

Everything that happens to us, especially when we are young, forms a map of how you see yourself and navigate your world. Deeply upsetting events can distort the map, creating emotional triggers which force you to unconsciously react to events instead of consciously taking a mindful action.

Some triggers sit much deeper within our subconscious mind causing especially harmful symptoms such as anxiety, depression or a negative emotional state.

Emotional Mind Integration (EMI) neurotherapy empowers you to resolve past trauma and change your subconscious mind map, quickly and permanently, shifting into an empowering mindset. You can experience EMI neuro-trance-psychotherapyat my hypnotherapy practice in Sydney.

Can Hypnotherapy help heal trauma?

Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel helpless. It includes adverse childhood experiences such as:

  • witnessing parents fight or go through a divorce

  • having a parent with a mental illness or substance abuse problem, or

  • suffering from sexual, physical or emotional abuse.

When our mind is mature enough, it has the ability to process emotional trauma, leaving it safely in the past, but when we experience traumatic events in childhood, we are often unable to do this.

When trauma remains unresolved, your subconscious mind tucks it away, storing it in your body, forming emotional triggers in an attempt to protect you. Any new situation with echoes of the original event that caused the trauma will set off those triggers, leading to strong reactions.

Bessel van der Kolk, psychiatrist, researcher, therapist and author of The Body Keeps the Score, found that trauma shuts down sections of the brain. The ‘fight and flight’ response is triggered, releasing hormones ready for action. But instead of following their natural course, the hormones are trapped in a trauma state within the mind and body.

Fear of failure, low self-worth or confidence issues, panic, anxiety and unwanted habits are all examples of responses to hidden emotional triggers that keep you stuck, feeling disempowered or frustrated.

Resolving hidden emotional trauma is an essential step when dealing with most issues in hypnotherapy. The EMI process provides accurate, fast and life-lasting resolutions.

What is Emotional Mind Integration?

Emotional Mind Integration is a fusion of the most beneficial principles of psychology, hypnotherapy and neuroscience designed to address the personal inner conflicts, stressors, trauma and mental health that people face.

As the name suggests, Emotional Mind Integration (EMI) brings emotions and mindset into harmony with one another. Founded by counsellor and hypnotherapist Yildiz Sethi, EMI is described as neuro-trance-psychotherapy.

While hypnotherapy works by reinforcing positive suggestions at the subconscious level, EMI healing goes deeper than hypnotherapy due to its focus on uncovering and resolving emotional trauma. It delves into basic needs that were unmet at some point in our lives, such as love, connection or safety, and explores buried feelings around events that were too difficult for us to manage.

By rapidly rewiring the brain’s neural pathways, EMI helps to replace outdated reaction patterns with new life-affirming beliefs and ignite a healing process. EMI has proved to be extremely successful, with a huge 90% of people who experience it making remarkable positive changes within 3 to 5 sessions.

Why Emotional Mind Integration method is so effective?

You have billions of neurons in your brain forming a complex network. Each time you have an experience, thousands of them are fired up, forming connections, or pathways. Neuroplasticity means that throughout your life, your brain remains capable of making new connections, or pathways. You can find out more about this in Norman Doidge's books, The Brain that Changes Itself and The Brain’s Way of Healing.

EMI uses a state of light trance to bypass the critical thinking mind. You are then able to access neural pathways to locate and resolve a distressed emotional mind state caused by emotional trauma.

Throughout the whole process the therapist maintains contact with you through verbal feedback to check where you are in the process and guide you to the next step of the healing pathway.

During this unique self-healing journey you resolve and release the emotional trigger, creating inner balance between your mind and emotion states, allowing you to choose a different reaction to a similar situation in the future.

In EMI sessions, there is no need to relive the experience that created your deep-seated emotional triggers. You might not even consciously recall what happened, or the triggers may be inherited through generational trauma. What matters is that we access the triggers themselves.

In just a few sessions, this process allows you to heal inner conflict, anxiety or panic attacks, break habits or addictions, and establish a whole new mindset by building healthier neural pathways.

You can expect to reset at least one neural pathway in each session. So the number of sessions will depend on how much you want to achieve.

Remember, 90% of people who experience EMI achieve remarkable results in just a few sessions. Imagine hitting your fear of failure out of the park, smashing the cycle of weight loss and gain, attracting a satisfying relationship, living a calmer life at a healthy pace, and finally kicking your goals!  All these are possible once you deal with the impact of the past, and reboot your mindset.
